Breakups often devolve into petty accounting, but nothing warps a ledger faster than the threat of pet theft.

In one spectacular case, an ex decided that two rescue cats made perfect bargaining chips, discovering too late that feline leverage can claw a bank account to pieces.
20 Meowgnificent Memes for Pawrents Plotting to Add More Cats to the Crew

Some people dream of wealth or fame, but true cat lovers know the real goal: more cats. One feline friend is never quite enough. Two? Getting there. Three? Now it's a party! The craving for extra fluffballs is real, whether it's the irresistible charm of a stray whisker or the promise of more purrs, head boops, and playful paws.
It's the daily struggle of trying to resist yet another adoption post, telling yourself "just looking" while your heart screams "take them all home!" There's the challenge of explaining to friends why your cat tower looks more like a skyscraper, why your furniture is mysteriously covered in fur, and why your lap is always full even when you thought you had some "me time."
Wanting more cats isn't just a phase. It's a full-on lifestyle. The love, the mischief, the endless cuddles. It's impossible to say no. Because in a cat lover's world, there's always room for one more purrfect companion to steal your heart (and your favorite chair), making every day a little brighter and a lot furrier.

Anybody who has ever owned a special-needs cat knows how big of a responsibility it is. These cats need extra from you. That's true and has always been true. So that is something that has to go into consideration when you adopt a special-needs cat. At first glance, it looks like the man in this story did realize this - the weight of the responsibility of having a cat like this. It seems that he looked for a cat-sitter who specializes in cats who need this little bit extra. But then things take a turn. A weird turn.
This man, who is clearly well-off financially, seems to have had a problem with paying the $20 that this highly qualified cat sitter was asking for, a price that any cat owner, let alone a special-needs cat owner, should be willing to pay for something like this. He put off paying until the last second, and when the cat sitter put her foot down, he did the most unexpected thing of all.

Have you ever been injured and just wanted someone you love close by to hold you and tell you everything is going to be okay? Sure, when you were little you would shout out for mommy or daddy when you would scrape your knee and they would hold you and give you a band aid and you would feel all better. But what do you do when you're an adult? Do you call out to your mommy and daddy again? What if you live across the world from each other or your parents are too old to care for you? That's when a partner or a great friendship or even just a great neighbor is important to have.
This need isn't just for humans, animals need comforting too, especially rescue animals. Take, for example, this sweet pup who was rescued after being hit by a car. A woman stepped up to foster her even thought she was so injured that they were going to have to amputate. The woman was so concerned about rescuing this poor pup in need, that she didn't think about her rescue cat she had at home and how he was going to react to a dog…

Now yes, this story is about a scared kitten who found itself in genuinely the last place a cat should be, like swimming on a lake would be more reasonable than this. But what is most impressive about this story is the manpower, time and resources that city officials authorized to use in order to save this defenceless kitten. We will not spoil this story for you with all the details, but we will say that with the myriad of stories out there where a heroic hooman stepped in to save the day, the most the hooman ever had, was a helping hand and a donated blanket.
Any expenses came out of their own pocket, and no one really wanted to help them on their hero's journey. But in the case of this kitten, all those cheap thoughts seem to have flown out of the window and landed far, far away, as little to no expense was spared to save this sweet kitten.

Well, here we have rather the emotional story about a heroic hooman who did not give up, no matter what, and all for an animal who did not live in their home, nor even their street. It is not often that a rescuer gets involved past the delivery to the local vet office, after all, life is busy and tough enough as it is. But in this story our heroine felt that something was amiss, that while she had made the right moves to save the cute cat she cared about, something was not being done about it.
And much to everyone's misfortune, she was right, but not too late. And that is where her hero's journey really kicks into high gear and gives this rescuer the chance to prove how devoted she truly is to cat kind. If the cat council were watching (and they always are), we would assume that a delivery from the Cat Distribution System will arrive shortly.

24 Feline Funnies Fur a Fresh Start to the Work Week
Jul. 14th, 2025 12:00 pm![[syndicated profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/feed.png)
Meow, meow hoomans the work week is back and for this season of the show we have soaring temperatures that make walking to your car feel like a trans-Saharan ultra marathon, broken AC systems casually dripping water on unsuspecting victims and of course our summer favorite, that one kid who was thrown out of camp for bad behavior who has now had to come to the office to cause havoc there rather than amongst other children.
Yes, it is a rubbish season, but at least it is only made up of five episodes and at this point we are part way through episode 1. So to keep you sane as you live out the storyline of a terrible television show, we figured you could use a collection of feline funnies that will hopefully add a little freshness to your working week and mix things up at little at least.

Every cat pawrent knows their cat is the most territorial creature in the house. This is why we usually refer to our four-legged fluffy feline friends as the hoMEOWners, or even as the royalty who rule the house kingdom with an iron paw. So we all know how difficult it is to have another cat enter the picture…
This one pawrent-to-be went to the shelter to adopt themselves a cat - already a noble deed. But you know what happens when you go into a shelter - you fall in love with all the cats there. This hearty hooman adopted two siblings, but was told they're not a bonded pair.
But, you know what? Shelters can also be wrong. Are you ready for some clingy, huggable, and downright pawdorable, overly-bonded pairs of cats? This "not a bonded pair" of cat siblings is included. Clutch your heart, it's going to be sweeter than sugar.

22 Clocked-In Cat Memes for Locked-In People Trying to Whisker Monday Away
Jul. 14th, 2025 10:00 am![[syndicated profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/feed.png)
We can't stop Monday from showing up - believe us, we've tried. But while we might not have time-bending powers, we do have something better: cat memes. And not just any cat memes… these are working cat memes. Yes, cats who have metaphorically (or sometimes literally) clocked in for the daily grind. Just like you.
Sure, cats may rule the house, ignore schedules, and nap whenever they want - but when it comes to being hardworking? Nothing hits quite like a grumpy cat in an office chair or a floofy coworker napping on a keyboard. These kitties are doing their best to "work hard", and they deserve a raise in treats.
If the Monday mellows are creeping in, consider this your purrfect distraction. These hired feline funnies are reporting for duty with one clear mission: boost your mood, stat. Whether you're answering emails or just trying to make it through your morning coffee, these memes are the coworkers you actually want around.

This is why it's impawtant to get your cats microchipped, fam. You never know when someone might try to "rescue" your cat and never give them back!

We understand wanting to help every cat in need, we do, but the word "need" is purrfectly crucial here. If the cat is loved, has a home, and is well-fed, that cat doesn't need your help - it's just adventurous. There are plenty of cats that do need your help in shelters or hiding behind dumpsters are your local movie theater (that's where we found our furst cat).
A worried pawrent got a call from a vet saying that someone found their cat (thanks to the microchip), but was trying to adopt them despite knowing they had an owner. The pawrent tried to convince them to give their cat back, which then prompted tears on the other end. The kicker? She still wouldn't give the feline back. Scroll down to read the full story below!

Happy Meownday, feline fam. We're writing about this post below to share some impawtant life lessons with you, but first, let's give you a little summary of what to expect.

A feline foster mom decided to look after her friends' cat for an indefinite amount of time. Weeks turned into months, and months turned into a year. She, of course, became purrfectly bonded with the cute kitty. But then, when they came back, they expected her to return the cat to them, even though she already felt like the cat was hers.
This is the first life lesson that we hope to impart to you: cat ownership is not based on emeowtions. Just because she cared for the cat, and even paid for expenses, the cat had a microchip with her friends' names on it, and they have documentation of ownership. This is all that matters. If they have a microchip, they legally belong to someone else… even if you rescued them off the street. Scroll down to read how an unfortunate miscommunication forced her to give back the cat she fell in love with below.

Not all kittens are born the same, and nature can be a little harsh towards the ones born a little worse for wear. That is where we come in. When we see a kitten in need of help, it is our duty, as cat people, to do whatever we can to help it. Sometimes, it's our role to adopt the kitten and give it a second chance at life. Sometimes, it's about finding the kitten's momma. And other times, when the momma is not around and the kitten is still at a stage where a mother is necessary, it's about finding the purrfect foster mom.
And that is exactly what Purrsephone is. This adorable cat momma not only just had three of her own little wiggly babies, but when she was presented with a kitten who needed her help, she did not hesitate. She adopted the kitten as if it was her own - and the kitten… seems completely at home.

We don't know if you have noticed but uhh… the world is kind of on fire right now. Every day, we look up and something else has happened. Always something dramatic, always something that stresses us out that we wish we could simply ignore. And although no, we can't ignore the world forever, we do think that it is healthy to sometimes, for even five minutes, take a break from the madness and simply enjoy some wholesome cat memes.
It really is that simple sometimes. Take five minutes, scroll through some heartwarming cat memes, and suddenly, the burning fire will not feel quite so hot, at least for a while. That's all that we ask for. And that is all that we are about to bring you - some pawsitive cat memes. You would be surprised the difference that it makes to spend a couple minutes on yourself and your mental health first thing on Monday morning.

Anyone who always keeps an eye out for stray cats in need of a home understands how challenging it can be to distinguish between a stray cat and an outdoor cat with owners. While it can be easy to do so if a cat is sporting a fashionable collar, cats are also known to be ungovernable little hooligans who are not above removing their collars the second they get the chance.
So the question remains–how do you know if the friendly cat you keep seeing around your neighborhood already has someone who looks after it?
Unfortunately, there is no straight answer to this question, so you have to live and learn, usually through trial and error. Knock on doors asking if anyone owns the fur ball currently out and about, take the feisty feline to the vet to check for a microchip, or even take the cat in and see if anyone comes to look for it.
If no one claims it, then you can move on with your plans to adopt the hissterical cat, which is exactly what the lovely resident did with her pregnant neighborhood cat and her six little kittens!
